Roanoke city police say 42-year-old Teresa Young Hale was walking through the parking lot of the Upper Class Cafe in the 24-hundred-block of Orange Avenue Northeast when she was struck by Anthony Brooks' pickup truck.
She was reportedly thrown onto the hood of the vehicle, then dragged under the truck onto Orange Avenue, where Brooks allegedly ran over her then fled the scene.
Hale was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brooks was stopped by Vinton police on Virginia Avenue.
He's charged with drunk driving - additional charges are pending.

A five week murder trial in Wise has ended with a guilty verdict.
After 11 hours of deliberations, an all-female jury convicted Charles Riner of first-degree murder and arson in connection with his wife Karen's death in a house fire in 1998.
Riner HAD faced a capital murder charge and the possibility of the death penalty.
The jury opted for the lesser charge.
The sentencing phase of the trial resumes Monday.

More than one hundred banjo, guitar and mandolin players are taking part in the Roanoke Bluegrass Weekend.
Students from across the country began arriving Thursday night for workshops, performances and jam sessions.

Well-known bluegrass musicians including Herschel Sizemore, Sammy Shelor, Kenny Smith, and Chris Thile (THEE-lee) are teaching workshops.
They'll get together for a public concert at the Hotel Roanoke, tonight at 8:30pm.
