It was a bright spot in an otherwise tense evening for Lynchburg Republicans.. by a wide margin of more than ten percent, voters rejected a plan to raise the state sales tax by a penny to pay for local school improvements.
Opponents say they never expected to win this argument.. but apparently residents were unconvinced that a sales tax hike was the way to go.

The jury set his punishment at 130 years in prison, for helping to set the fire that killed six people.
That was a lot more than Michael Clements got, for pleading guilty and agreeing to testify against Jackson.
Today, the judge agreed with the prosecutor's recommendation, to change the sentence to 45 years.
That means Jackson could get parole, once he reaches 60.
