Rescue crews needed two hours to rescue a 12-year-old boy who fell 75 feet while hiking in Roanoke County.

Authorities say he was hiking with friends at Dragon's Tooth yesterday afternoon when he fell approximately 75 feet.
It took rescue crews 30- minutes to reach the boy who was then lifted to the top with a rope.
Authorities say the boy apparently slipped.... perhaps on some leaves.

The cost of training a dog is close to 10-thousand dollars, but the person who receives the dog pays only 2-hundred 50 dollars. To keep costs down, the program relies on people to give the puppies a good home for a year before they're sent to the trainer.

New homes from Habitat for Humanity will take a little longer for several low-income families. The New River Valley chapter says 100-thousand dollars is missing from N-R-C Management Services, which managed its finances. Without the money, the charity says its forced to delay completion of at least four of seven houses being readied for families. In all, 580-thousand dollars was reported missing from N-R-C clients, which include dozens of other charities. The FBI is investigating.
