Thai commandos today shot and killed nine inmates who had broken out of prison southwest of Bangkok. The escapees had been holding prison officials hostage.

After tailing the hostage-takers for 13 hours, Thai army commandos opened fire early this morning.
The commandos made their move when the inmates got out to change a flat tire.
All three captives were freed in Thursday's raid, though one was seriously injured.
Inside the inmates' hijacked truck, police found four pistols, two of them fake, a home-made bomb, some knives and container of cooking gas.

Photographs with Noel cost 5-dollar apiece. While checking out the reindeer don't forget Mill Mountain Zoo's annual "Zoo Night Lights" which runs from Saturday, December 16th to Monday the 18th. Noel will also be on display in Santa's Workshop during downtown Roanoke's "Dickens of a Christmas."

or more accurately, it played Hokie. The Hokie Bird hit the ski slops at the Snowshoe Resort in West Virginia.
The Virgina Tech mascot was taking a quick break before the busy sports weekend that will see the Hokies match up with U-V-A both on the basketball court and the grid iron.
