Police believe she was a victim of domestic abuse and may have been trying to leave when Calvin Carrington gunned her down.

A SWAT team entered the house about 6:15, that's when the suspect fired a few shots, then shot himself.
Chief Morris says officers never returned fire.
Calvin Carrington died about an hour later at the hospital.

A pilot and his mechanic walked away unhurt from a forced landing at the Lynchburg airport this morning.

The pilot.. 56- year- old James Lampman.. was able to bring the plane down in a field just beyond the runway.

A Bedford County man was killed in a single- car accident tonight near New London.

The wreck occurred around 6 o'clock on Route 668, about a half mile from 460.
Witnesses tell police that 58- year old Earl Wayne Hatter of Goode was headed south on 668 when his car ran off the road and flipped over.
Police say Hatter was not wearing his seat belt and was partially thrown from the car.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Radford man died in an A-T-V accident today.
58 year old Lee Stonewall Jackson, Junior left his home this morning to go hunting.
When he didn't return, his family asked the property owner to check on him.
This evening, Montgomery County deputies and Christiansburg Rescue Squad members found Jackson dead near Union Valley Road.
