Police believe she was a victim of domestic abuse and may have been trying to leave when Calvin Carrington gunned her down.

After the shooting, Calvin Carrington barricaded himself inside the couple's house.
A SWAT team entered the house about 6:15, that's when the suspect fired a few shots, then shot himself.
Chief Morris says officers never returned fire.
Calvin Carrington died about an hour later at the hospital.

A pilot and his mechanic walked away unhurt from a forced landing at the Lynchburg airport this morning.

This twin- engine King Air F-90 was on a maintenance flight when it lost power shortly after takeoff.
The pilot.. 56- year- old James Lampman.. was able to bring the plane down in a field just beyond the runway.
The plane then caught fire but Lampman and 27- year- old Todd Hollins were able to escape the burning craft unharmed.

A Bedford County man was killed in a single- car accident tonight near New London.

The wreck occurred around 6 o'clock on Route 668, about a half mile from 460.
Witnesses tell police that 58- year old Earl Wayne Hatter of Goode was headed south on 668 when his car ran off the road and flipped over.
Police say Hatter was not wearing his seat belt and was partially thrown from the car.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Radford man died in an A-T-V accident today.
58 year old Lee Stonewall Jackson, Junior left his home this morning to go hunting.
When he didn't return, his family asked the property owner to check on him.
This evening, Montgomery County deputies and Christiansburg Rescue Squad members found Jackson dead near Union Valley Road.

The day after Thanksgiving shopping ritual got out of hand at shopping mall in San Diego today as hundreds of shoppers jammed the entrance to Walmart.
K-F-M-B weatherman and feature reporter Larry Himmel was set up for a LIVE report at the store entrance. He was stampeded by a mob of shoppers as the store opened the doors for business.
Himmel eventually retreated behind the sliding doors, rather than be swept into retail oblivion.

Both Alabama and the University of North Carolina have expressed interest in coach Beamer.
Now both Tech and Beamer or his agent, have spoken at least by phone on the new contract.
It is worth over one million dollars per year, which surpasses his current deal of around 800 thousand a year.
