He says he's alive because of the skill of the pilot and a higher power that was watching over him today.

This twin- engine King Air F-90 was headed out on a routine maintenance flight when it took off around 11:45.
The plane failed to gain altitude, and the pilot radioed the tower he had an emergency.

Realizing they couldn't return to the airport, the pilot.. 56- year- old James Lampman.. guided the aircraft toward a small field just beyond the airport runway.
It came down hard and caught fire.

Police, fire and rescue personnel arrived minutes later to find the plane engulfed in flames.. but Lampman and Hollins were standing nearby, unhurt.

A woman was shot and killed in Danville this afternoon.

Police say a man with a gun was seen chasing a woman down Third Street.
He shot her, and then ran off.
Police know who the woman is, but they are not releasing her name.
They're still looking for the gunman.

Virginia Tech released a statement today confirming the University's desire to keep head football coach Frank Beamer in Blacksburg by offering him more money to coach the Hokies.

Keith, both Alabama and the University of North Carolina have expressed interest in coach Beamer. Today, Tech officials announced that both parties, the university and either Beamer or his agent, have spoken at least by phone on the new contract. The new deal is worth in excess of one million dollars per year, which surpasses his current deal of around 800 thousand a year.
