Florida lawmakers are trying to figure out how theyll proceed if the courts can't sort out the election maze.
They want to give Floridas 25 electoral votes to George W. Bush. But voters turned up in force to tell the legislators to let their votes
be counted and not to take it out of their hands.

Meanwhile his brother, George W. Bush has taken shelter in the privacey of his texas ranch where he continues to work on the transition to a

Although they have recieved little cooperation from the White House, Bush's running mate Dick Cheney is taking a hands on approach.

In Washington, lawyers for both parties have submitted written arguments
to the U.S. Supreme Court. The nine justices Friday will hear a Bush
request to overturn the Florida Supreme Court's ruling. That judgement
extended the deadline for accepting recounts.
And In Tallahassee, the Floridas highest court still has not indicated whether it will hear the case over the controversial butterfly ballots.

The railroad's latest offer will affect roughly 18 percent of the company's non-union workforce.

A Martinsville teenager was killed as she headed toward school this morning.
Police say 16 year old Amy Shupe veered off Route 58 into the median, flipped her car, and flew from the vehicle.
Shupe was a junior at Laurel Park High School.
IN AN an unrelated accident in Botetourt County, an 88-year-old woman died.

Police say Neatie Gish left the Route 220 Minute Market and turned right into the path of a pickup.
The truck driver, 35-year-old Sharon Coleman of Montvale, could not stop in time and hit Gish's car.

Police do NOT plan to file any charges.

Testimony has concluded in the murder trial of a teenager charged with killing her grandfather.

Sixteen year old Robin Martin is being tried as an adult on first degree murder charges.
Prosecutors say she shot her 80-year-old grandfather, John (MESS-icks) Mesics, in the face as he slept in July, 1999.
The girl was being raised by her grandparents in their Carroll County home.
Friends testified Martin told them she shot him after he yelled at her for being on the phone.
Martin told the jury she was under the influence of beer and drugs and did not intend to shoot Mesics.
She also said friends egged her on, and that verbal abuse from her grandfather made her angry.
