Good evening everybody and welcome to yet another edition of Friday Football Extra. This is our next to last show of the year, and for three teams out there, it is the most imporant one of the 2000 season. In the next 30 minutes we'll visit with the folks at Bath County, Rustburg and Salem as they looks win state championships tomorrow afternoon. Of course we wil also have the state wide schedule, and Robin Reed will join us the end of the program to give us a state title Saturday forecasts for tomorrow afternoon. Plus, it's old home week as former FFE king Shawn Moore checks in with us.
[GRAPHIC=BATH/RIVERHEADS]

To get things started tonight we focus in on the Division one title game between Bath County and Riverheads. The contest kicks off tomorrow afternoon at four o'clock at Williams Stadium on the campus of Liberty University in Lynchburg.

It's an interesting game because it's a rematch contest from earlier this year when the still unbeaten Gladiators rolled the Chargers 48-to-22. A fate Bath hopes to avoid tomorrow.

The artificial turf at Williams stadium will be new to the players on both teams. Bath County's coach played on the field once while he was in colLege at Concord, but other than that it's unknown territory. ((MICHAEL BUSH:)) The past two seasons have been learning experiences for all of these kids. Bath won just once last year before Jones arrived from Sussex Central high school. Now, back in 1995 when Bath captured its only state football title the school was forced to overcome more than astroturf. Horrendous weather on championship weekend forced Bath and Strasburg to play on of all things a Sunday afternoon in Low Moor on Alleghany High School's field. Let's take a look back that frigid battle - five years ago.

Welcome back folks as we continue to preview the events coming up tomorrow on State Title Saturday
[GRAPHIC=SALEM/PARK VIEW]

Salem beat Magna Vista 43-to-nothing last week to set up a Division Four State Title rematch of last season's championship between Park View Sterling and The Spartans at JMU.
But while the opponent for Salem is the same, the two seasons have been like night and day for Spartans.
Denise Allen explains why despite the ups and downs of this year everything is golden for the Spartans.

Welcome back everybody to our Friday Football Extra state championship preview show. If you have been with us over the years you know that I have always maintined that the greatest player to ever perform on this show is Martinsville native Shawn Moore. Shawn was Vick before there was a Vick.
He is still the only former player of the week to end up as a Heisman finalist. Recently Steve Mason caught up with Shawn and I think you'll be very interested in what he's up to these days.

((In high school, he was an all state performer. Martinsville retired his jersey as a gesture of the Bulldogs appreciation. In 1990 He led the University of Virginia all the way to the nations number one ranking before his Cavaliers fell to Georgia Tech in an exciting 41-38 finish. After a a stint as a back up to the Denver Broncos John Elway, Moore retired from playing. Now he's stepped back into the ring..so to speak and is working for WWF owner Vince McMahon and the XFL. ((:)) ((:)) ((:))
As part of his new job, Moore attended the Carolina Panthers training camp this past summer and, ironically, Herman Moore, his UVa teammate in 1990, was also there. Moore and his Detroit Lions were scrimmaging the Panthers. ((:)) ((:))
Moore is always looking for talented players that will fit into the XFL and sometimes a good fit means an athlete who might be slightly below NFL standards. Shawn never got the shot in the pros many feel he deserved. And his new career in the XFL gives him an opportunity to give a player who simply needs a chance, the resources to possibly reach the NFL through the XFL. ((:))
