Leon County Circuit Judge N. Sanders Sauls has denied Gore's request to hand count thousands of disputed presidential ballots in two Florida counties. Sauls says Gore has failed to prove the results would be different with a recount. Gore's lawyers had argued there could be enough votes in the two counties to give Gore victory in Florida's presidential race. Lead Gore lawyer David Boies immediately announced an appeal.

Correctly putting a child in a safety seat can significantly reduce the risk of death.

New video shows what can happen if a child is not restrained properly.
The Insurance Institute for Higway Safety study shows children being smashed by air bags and thrown side ways into windows.
The Institute says babies under 12 months and less than 20 pounds should be placed in rear facing seats in the back seat of the car. Once a child weighs 20 pounds, he should be moved into a forward-facing seat, but still in the back seat.
The Institute also says that even improperly restrained children fare better than children who aren't in any kind of safety seat.
