((The Florida Supreme Court will be center stage again tomorrow-- in the drama that has become the presidential election 2000. Wednesday-- it was the dueling cases of absentee ballots....and democratic claims they were tampered with in two Florida counties. Sandra Goard, Seminole County Election Supervisor's Deposition Read by a Proxy: "Had anyone ever requested on behalf of any political party the opportunity to add the voter identification number to any request form in the past? No." A ruling in his favor in either Seminole or Martin case, could throw out thousands of ballots....and effectively hand Vice President Al Gore-- the White House. Republicans. But in one scenario....even that kind of a ruling could be superceded.... by the republican-dominated Florida Legislature....which now says it will convene in special session beginning Friday to appoint its own slate of electors. It is determined to avoid Florida's elimination from the Electoral College when it meets on December 18th. John McKay, President of Florida State Senate. We must be prudent and timely, not trying to preempt, prejudge, just protect florida voters" The Bush team meanwhile is moving ahead with what it hopes is a transition to the White House. The black and white bears are on loan to the National Zoo in exhange for a $10-million donation to promote panda conservation in China.
The Zoo spent around 2-million dollars to renovate the panda house in anticipation of their arrival - but the pandas will be quarantined for the time being so they can adjust.
Visitors should be able to see them some time in January.
