The Virginia Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction in Ironto Rest Stop murder.
It's a split decision: two judges voting to affirm the first-degree murder conviction; one strongly dissenting.
(------------)
[VO-NAT]

State Police made up a story to get Bud Pritchett to come in and discuss the case.
Despite that, the majority in today's ruling concluded Pritchett went to State Police Headquarters voluntarily and that his confession was made voluntarily.
[SUPER=03-Montgomery Co/April 1997]

There was never any physical evidence linking Pritchett to the rest-stop crime scene. Pritchett later testified that he just went along with what the police said during questioning.
In a 15-page dissenting opinion, Judge James Benton bluntly stated "the police lied to Pritchett... to lure him to the police station for interrogation."
