Meanwhile, thousands who packed Lane Stadium for the first game of the season are still waiting for ticket refunds. Officials in charge of issuing refunds on the 35-dollar tickets say there are only 8 people handling the thousands of requests. But they say they hope to get the refunds out by the end of the year. More than 56-thousand people attended the game - but there's no estimate on how many asked for their money back. Fans who sent a refund application without a ticket stub to prove they were there won't get a refund at all.

This home on Gerard Street caught fire early yesterday morning. Demetria Conway and two of her children were able to escape...They were treated for minor injuries. Firefighters rescued another two-year-old child from the burning home. That child was taken to the U-V-A medical center, and is listed in fair condition.

An inmate at Wallens Ridge supermax prison in Wise County says a riot there earlier this month resulted from the mistreatment of blacks and Hispanics.

Eighteen inmates suffered minor injuries when guards fired rubber pellets from shotguns. A state spokesman says the riot occurred when about 70 prisoners refused to return to their cells after lunch. In a letter to an inmate support group in his home state of Connecticut, prisoner Michael Reddick wrote the gunfire was in response to inmates' efforts to discuss concerns of mistreatment of minorities.

and center Theo Ratliffe chipped in 14 as the Sixers improve to 18 and 6 while the Bulls fall to 3 and 21 with the 99-91 win.
