Waksmunski (wax-MUN-skee) says they'd like to sign up 65 to 70 percent of the workforce before voting on whether to form a union.
Three previous efforts to form a union at B-W-X-T have failed.

Another movie theater in Roanoke may close its doors because of dwindling business. The Cinema Grill near Cross Roads Mall says it's having trouble attracting movie goers since the Valley View Grand opened. Kate Weidaw has more.

Valley View Cinema inside the mall closed its doors earlier this year after 15 years in business. But Steel thought they found a niche in the movie theater business in Roanoke by serving restaurant style food and alcohol. Terry Sayers and his family say they enjoy eating dinner while watching a flick.

The U-S Department of Agriculture has increased the tobacco quota by about one percent. That means farmers nationwide will be able to grow almost 549- million pounds of tobacco next year. The increase follows three years of steep cuts. But, in Virginia, the increase probably won't offset what actually will be a smaller crop... Many farmers exercised their right this year to sell three percent more tobacco than the quota allowed.

One twister touched down near Tuscaloosa early Saturday afternoon, catching holiday shoppers off guard. Homes were demolished and vehicles tossed like toys as the storms ripped through residential neigborhoods, toppling trees and bringing down power lines. Another strong tornado raked through a rurual section in the northern part of the state while a third cut through Geneva, an area near the Florida border where at least 8 people were injured.

This is the latest episode in a series of dramatic winter weather events that continue to wreak havoc across the nation. While much of the East coast battles gusty winds and driving rain, states across the midwest have suffered through blizzard conditions and paralyzing cold. Sampson Carlos Dodson was arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death of 38-year-old Daniel Rose.

Rose was shot to death in the King's Village area of Henry County Tuesday night. A preliminary investigation lead police to believe the shooting was drug related. Dodson is being held, without bond, in the Henry County Jail.

The accident happened around 9-pm on Route 360 in Pittsylvania County. Authorities say 85- year old Dan Blackmon was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Quick with a smile and a can-do attitude, Brenda Hale says she feels blessed. But she has also faced adversity.
Born in Roanoke, she and her siblings were separated in 1953 after her father killed her mother.
Hale moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she was raised by a great aunt and uncle. A debutante at 17, she joined the U.S. Army soon after, and began a nursing career that would carry her around the world and eventually bring her back to the Roanoke Valley.

Hale ran for President in 1998, and narrowly won the first election. But the vote was contested, and Martin Jeffrey won when a second election was held a few months later.
Fresh from her victory this Fall... Hale says she believes the chapter is ready to put any lingering divisions behind it.
