((THE 25 PEOPLE AT THE HEART OF THE MONTH-LONG PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION DISPUTE CAST THEIR ELECTORAL VOTES IN FLORIDA TODAY WITHOUT FANFARE AND WITH NO SURPRISES. GRETCHEN CARLSON REPORTS ON TODAY'S ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTING AROUND THE NATION.
---

It happens every year we elect a President. 538 electors in 50 states and the District of Columbia come to their respective state capitols and cast their votes. My vote is for President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. But never in modern history has so much attention been focused on this part of the political process. Its been a roller coaster! Today TV cameras were everywhere from Colorado to Ohio to Florida. Governor Jeb Bush/R- Florida We have also been the focal point of this election. In Tallahassee, all eyes were on Governor Jeb Bush, as he took in the states 25 electoral votes. Would any of the electors switch their votes from Bush to Gore? Electors here had been barraged with an email, letter, and phone campaign, urging them to do just that but today no fireworks not a single elector was swayed. Carol Jean Jordan - Florida Republican Elector Its about trust; its about loyalty. The ballots now move on to Capitol Hill where Congress will officially count the votes January 6th. Governor Jim Gilmore/R-Virginia Not one drop of blood was shed, not one ounce of gun powder was fired. Power will again be passed peacefully in the United States. Meantime, the country moves on as well with a better understanding of the Electoral College and how it determined the winner in one of the hardest fought political battles in history.
