A tanker truck carrying gasoline crashed into a milk truck around 6 a-m causing the closure. Crates of milk and diesel fuel from both trucks spilled across both lanes. State Police say the accident happened when the driver of the milk truck attempted to turn into the Moose Lodge.

The money was fake - but the drugs were not. At least 140- hits of the drug Ecstasy were discovered after police arrested a man yesterday on counterfeit money charges.

Police say John Adam Hudson of Roanoke was charged with passing off a fake one-hundred dollar bill at a local Walgreens.
Police say Hudson admitted to using the bogus bills at other Roanoke stores. He also reportedly led police to a Roanoke county residence where the Ecstasy was discovered.

The Virginia parole board turned down Earl Washington's request for early release.

The former death row inmate was pardoned by Governor Gilmore after D-N-A evidence cleared him of rape and murder.

But the Governor left it up to the parole board to determine whether Washington should be released from prison immediately. The board yesterday denied Washington early release from a 30- year sentence for a malicious wounding conviction in 1983.
Washington's mandatory release date is February 12th.

While the media rarely sees his sense of humor, his players seem to know a George Welsh that can be funny at times.

Players present and past not only respect George Welsh but are realizing he single handily built UVa into a college football power whose athletes are reaching the NFL with increasing regularity. ((:)) Perhaps Welsh's impact can best be seen through the eyes of someone he has never met. The New York Giants will have the home field advantage throughout the N-F-L playoffs.
Tiki Barber rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown to lead New York to a 28 to 25 win over Jacksonville.

Tiki gave New York the early lead when he goes outside and cuts it up the gut from the three yard line the Giants led 7 to nothing.
But Jacksonville came right back Fred Taylor breaks tackles at the line and dashes down the sideline on the 44 yard T-D run and the game was tied at 7 to 7 at the half.
The Jags led 10 to 7 in the third then in the fourth quarter Kerry Collins rolls out and hits Ike Hillard on the 4 yard T-D pass and the Giants led 14 to 10 in the fourth quarter.

The Giants put the game away with less than 3 minutes remaining when Collins hits Amani Toomer on the 51 yard T-D pass to make it 21 to 10 and the Giants win it 28 to 25.

Brian Griese returned and injured his shoulder again but Gus Ferrotte was shaken up and Greise returned handing off to Karon Coleman who scored on this 24 yard run to make it 10 to nothing Broncos.
