Voters will see each candidate's party affiliation beside their name .. Until now, only the candidates for President were labeled with a party affiliation ..
State Republicans reportedly pushed for the change .. Officials say they have more to gain by tying themselves to their national party. The first test of the new law will come January 9th in a special House of Delegates election in Virginia Beach.

It's been a rocky ride for Norfolk Southern this year. The company has let go nearly 10 percent of its workforce since January.
The Martinsville area, on the other hand, has seen unemployment fall to levels it hasn't seen since Tultex left town.

(( In it's glory days, Norfolk Southern was an integral part of rail car part production. But waves of layoffs have left a broken track in Roanoke.
This year, N-S has closed its foundry and the East End Carshops.
2,844 workers have been let go system wide.
That means the company has reduced its workforce by just under 10% since January. [INSERT GREEN FLASH HERE]
Striking Union workers at Rubatex returned to work in June after nine months on strike.
It's labeled as one of the most bitter labor disputes in company history.
Crossing the picket lines became so difficult, Rubatex filed an unfair labor practice suit against its union.
Union members say the company has not been cooperative in contract negotiations.
The two sides have still not come to an agreement. [INSERT GREEN FLASH HERE]
80 thousand union workers at Verizon went on strike in August. They say mandatory overtime and stress in the work place lead them to the picket lines.
Those in Virginia returned to work in less than three weeks, but their most trying days were yet to come.
Verizon employee Danny Lee Overstreet was shot at killed at a Roanoke night club allegidly by Ronald Gay.
Employees at Verizon Virginia set up a memorial fun for Overstreet's family. [INSERT GREEN FLASH HERE]
The contract between fiber giant Celanese and its union members expired June 19th. Workers threatened to strike on three different occasions, but the strike was avoided.
In August, 59 percent of the company's unionized workers voted in favor of a new three-year deal -- which includes a yearly three percent raise.
Mandatory overtime is still a topic of debate. [INSERT GREEN FLASH HERE]
Martinsville and Henry County are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Cinergy Corporation has plans to build a new power plant.
The rebound comes after the loss of the area's biggest employer, Tultex.
Back to school staffing and holiday retail hiring has slimmed Martinsville's unemployment rate down to about eight percent.
All of the three former Tultex buildings have been sold - one to Sara Lee Activewear.
Sara Lee plans to hire some 300 hundred workers once its distribution center is up and running.
That's the 2000 business review.
