A 14- year- old Roanoke girl is dead--
City police say a 16- year- old boy is suspected of shooting her last night.
Authorities say Roanoke police responded to a shooting around 9-30 last night at a home in the Northwest section of the city.
The teenaged shooting victim was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial, where she died a short time later.
After speaking with the Commonwealth's Attorney's office, police released the male suspect into his mother's custody.
Charges are pending, once the investigation is complete.

A Roanoke woman is charged with stabbing to death the man she lived with.

Roanoke police arrested 40-year-old Brenda Warren yesterday morning and charged her with murder.

Police say Warren stabbed 47-year-old Edward Raymond Anderson the Third Saturday night at the Ramada Inn on Franklin Road ..
Police discovered Anderson's body yesterday.
A steak knife was also found at the scene.
Police say Anderson and Warren were living at the Ramada Inn together ..
They allegedly had a history of domestic problems.

Freezing temperatures are being blamed for a number of water main breaks that left many people without water this holiday weekend.
Roanoke Police say crews have been working for several days to repair the ruptured mains ..
Police say major lines in Southwest Roanoke have been repaired and MOST people should have an adequate water supply.
A few small mains still need repairs - but there's no word on when they'll be fixed.
