Roanoke police are still investigating into the fatal shooting of a 14- year- old girl.

It happened inside a residence at the Westwood Village apartment complex in Northwest Roanoke around 9:30 Sunday night.
Authorities say the victim was in her home with a 16- year- old male friend when she was shot once in the chest.


She died later at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The teenage boy was questioned by police and then released into his mother's custody.
No charges have been filed.

A warehouse owned by the Snowshoe resort went up in flames yesterday.

No one was hurt. But the fire did an estimated one million dollars damage.
It broke out just before five yesterday morning.
A spokesman for the ski resort says firefighters were on the scene a few minutes after the smoke alarm went off.
But it took about four hours to bring the fire under control, because of the strong winds and bitter cold.
The cause has yet to be determined.

A delegate from northern Virginia has filed a bill requesting the honorary license plate for supporters of the gun control group.
Ten other bills dealing with special plates ended up in House Transportation Committee.
But this one has been sent to the Militia and Police Committee. Several of the delegates on that panel are strong advocates of gun owners' rights.
