The shooting death of a 14- year- old girl is still under investigation.

It happened inside a residence at the Westwood Village apartment complex in Northwest Roanoke around 9:30 Sunday night.
Authorities say the victim was in her home with a 16- year- old male friend when she was shot once in the chest.
She died later at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The teenage boy was questioned by police and then released into his mother's custody.
No charges have been filed.

At least two people were killed and 20 more were injured.
Fire officials believe the blaze started on the top floor of the hotel.
One of the dead, a woman, is believed to have jumped from a window in an attempt to escape the fire.
Flames trapped the other victim inside his room.
It took firefighters three hours to bring the blaze under control.
Investigators are working to find the cause of the fire.

A spokesman for the ski resort says firefighters were on the scene a few minutes after the smoke alarm went off.

The cause has yet to be determined.
