Randy Cabbler, of Northwest Roanoke, told police he was driving down Staunton Avenue Northwest around 6:45 tonight when someone repeatedly fired at him for several blocks.
Police say Cabbler managed to drive to the intersection of 5th and Orange Avenue when a tire on his car blew out.
Cabbler apparently ran to a Holiday Inn Express at the intersection up Orange Avenue.
No word on suspects at this hour.

29-year-old Earl Allen Hale was indicted by the Roanoke grand jury on murder and firearms charges.

He's accused of fatally shooting 27-year-old Charlene Ramsey outside Hot Rods Car Care.
Police say Hale used to date Charlene Ramsey, and had harassed her on two occassions, including the day of her murder.
Hale is also accused of wounding Rodney Eugene Basham, the operator of "Hot Rods."
Basham underwent surgery yesterday - his condition isn't being released.

19-year-old Bernard Maurice Walker is charged with killing Reaco (Rico) Ramon Hilton at a Melrose Avenue convenience store.
Walker was directly indicted on murder and firearm charges - including an "unlawful possession of a firearm" charge.
Walker is still on the loose.

The man is wanted in the murders of a woman and two young children who were killed at the Albuquerque Mariott.
SWAT team officers had gone from room to room searching for the suspect -

Former Express General Manager Tony Mancuso is indicted for embezzling funds from the hockey team.
A Roanoke Grand Jury handed up a pair of three- count indictments this afternoon... one against Mancuso, and the other against his assistant, James (Higgin-both-um) Higginbotham.

Mancuso was let go at the end of the 98-99 season. The team's current general manager says the organization was "just swimming in red ink." But Mark Fackrell says it was only after Mancuso and Higginbotham left that the team realized what had happened.
Chief Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Betty Jo Anthony says about 10-thousand dollars was embezzled from the Express between June 1st of '98 and the end of June, 1999. Fackrell says it was AT LEAST 10-thousand.

His contract is over four years and it will pay him 10 million dollars. The former coach of the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns has been an NFL analyst on ESPN.
Schottenheimer has a career record of 145-85 and 1 and made 11 playoff appearances.
He is the 11th all time winningest coach in the NFL and replaces Norv Turner.
