Attorneys for Jeffrey Allen Thomas asked for a change of venue last month, saying that media coverage poisoned prospective jurors.
The judge said he would try to seat an impartial jury in February. If that fails, he will consider moving the trial.
Thomas is charged with Munsey's capital murder during what prosecuors call either a rape or attempted rape last January.

State police have charged a Chilhowie funeral home director with distributing child pornography and sodomizing a child under the age of 13.
48-year-old Barry Lee Newberry was funeral director at Chilhowie's Newberry Funeral Home.
He was arrested yesterday and charged with three counts forcible sodomy, possession and distribution of child pornography over the internet and bribery.
He's being held in the Smyth County jail without bond.

Authorities in Texas are still searching for seven prison escapees in what has become the biggest manhunt in that state's history.
Now police believe the fugitives are responsible for the Christmas Eve murder of a police officer. Today officials released the autopsy.

as an autopsy report reveals the police officer they are accussed to
have murdered...suffered 11 gunshots wounds.
Officials say Officer Aubrey Hawkins received 6 shots to his head, one

Hawkins was ambushed during a robbery at an Oshmans Sporting goods
store in Irving, Texas Christmas Eve.
High powered guns, ammunition and cash were taken so was the stores

Officials are convinced 7 escapees who broke out of a Texas State Prison
on December 13 committed the crime.
Hundreds of officers continue to scour the state looking for the
seven... they have been linked to several other crimes in the state.

One factor -- many parents can't afford to take their children to the dentist because they are either uninsured or don't have insurance at all.
But Carilion is hoping to fill the gap by opening a new Pediatric dental clinic.
