Hundreds turned out today to pay tribute to Lee and Jackson, one day after the state's official holiday in their names.

Hundreds of Civil War re-enactors dressed up in period costumes to honor the lives our civil war veterans.

She recently moved to the area and plans to take what she learned here back to the classroom.

Federal agents are helping Roanoke police try to learn exactly what kind of device exploded overnight .. under a car.

The car was parked along sixth street in southeast Roanoke.
The owner tells police she heard some kind of explosion around 3-30 AM ... but didn't see any damage and went back to sleep.
She took another look around 10 .. and that's when she could see the damage.
Federal Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco agents are now leading the investigation.

Payday arrived Thursday for 40 Air Cable workers. Some of them had not seen paychecks for at least a month.

Norfolk Southern has been ordered to pay 28 million dollars to thousands of its African American employees.
The federal judge's ruling comes after a seven-year class action suit filed by an employee alleging race discrimination.
Some 77-hundred employees will get part of the 28 million.
Norfolk Southern has also agreed to establish good faith goals for minority promotions. [PRE PRO]
The Dow was down 84.17 to close at 10,525. And the NASDAQ finished down 14 points to close at 2626 for the week.

The museum needs volunteers to help restore train cars to their former glory. In this week's "Time Off", Shannon Young checks out Railcar Rescue.

Six Saturdays a year the museum opens its doors to anyone who wants to help restore dozens of aging train cars. Railcar Rescue, as it's called, is designed to get the community involved in a project that will take years to complete.

State lawmakers are submitting a bunch of bills in Richmond .. designed to make sure Virginia doesn't go through the kind of ballot recounting problems seen in Florida last year.
One bill would require at least two corners of a chad to be separated from its punch-card ballot to count.
But another one would upgrade voting equipment statewide .. getting rid of punch card machines altogether.
Yet another would have the State Elections Board establish standards for conducting hand recounts.
