All Faxon would do is lead the tournament from start to finish.
He had eagles in each of his four rounds closing with a 5 under par 65 for a total of 20 under. That was good enough to beat Tom Lehman by four shots.

U-S-G-A president Trey Holland said that Palmer will temporarily be released as the associations honorary chairperson of its membership program because he endorses Callaway's non conforming E-R-C 2 Driver.
Holland said the association can not have a spokesperson who is promoting not playing by the rules of golf.
The 71 year old Palmer began his alliance with Callaway last fall endorsing the club the U-S-G-A says is illegal because of its spring like effect.
