((Rickey Young says he's not guilty and the jury will be able to see that. The experienced trial lawyer calls the four year investigation into whether he filed his tax returns in the early 90's a waste of money.
((RICKEY YOUNG: IT'S ALL THE END RESULT REGARDLESS OF WHAT OTHERS MIGHT SAY OF A 2.75 MILLION DOLLAR WITCH HUNT.))
Young says his accountant in the 90's is to blame for his tax returns not being filed accurately, which has now resulted in the indictment.
((RICKEY YOUNG: YES IT'S MY ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY TO DO IT BUT IT'S CALLED CRIMINAL AND WILLFULLY FAILED TO FILE AND I DON'T THINK I WILLFULLY FAILED TO FILE.))
The accountant told NEWS 7 she did NOT want to comment on Young's allegations because she is testifying during the case.
Young also faces two counts of mail fraud resulting from purchasing and selling cars for a profit.
((RICKEY YOUNG: WHAT THEY'RE SAYING IS I REPORTED THE INCORRECT AMOUNT TO DMV AND THEY ARE SAYING I COMMITTED FRAUD BY REPORTING THE INCORRECT AMOUNT.))
Young denies those charges... .charges he says have resulted in a loss of business and clients.
He's no longer representing clients like Roanoke City Police Officer Frederick Pledge who's charged with drug trading and Wilbert Wesley Lewis who was shot by a Roanoke City Police Officer in the stomach.
Young says he's worried about the money he has lost while preparing for this trial.
((RICKEY YOUNG: IF I WAS GUILTY I'D HAVE A MILLION DOLLARS I'D HAVE THIS I'D HAVE THAT I JUST BOUGHT SOME CARS AND TRIED TO MAKE TEN DOLLARS OFF OF THEM.))
Young will get to make his case on Monday in Roanoke's Federal Court. If he's convicted he faces up to 10 years in jail and a fine of 750-thousand dollars. Kate Weidaw News 7 Roanoke.))
