Officials say winds and tides have helped avert a major environmental disaster.
Meanwhile, efforts are continuing to right the stricken oil tanker, "Jessica".
The Ecuadorian government rejects criticism that it acted too slowly in recovering the 180- thousand gallons of diesel fuel that spilled.
They say recovery has been slow because of lack of equipment like heavy towing cables and powerful tugboats.
The oil tanker ran aground on January 16th.

((The supervisors are demanding an apology from Gilmore. He said they should be voted out of office for raising the tax rate on personal property, including cars.
A viewer from Wytheville [Shane Funk] says the supervisors should get real.
"I pay out a lot of tax dollars and some government type dues and I don't pay our governor to apologize about saying that we should vote [people] out of office. If people would get out and vote [them] out we would not even be wasting time dealing with this mess."
From Buena Vista, another viewer [Dave Brumit] says he'd tell the supervisors:
"...Grow up and get used to people disagreeing with you. You have no inherent right to your position of trust. You are subject to voters. It is the business of politicians to try and persuade voters on how they should vote. Gilmore's statements were appropriate."
We also had a note from a relative [Dave Smith] of a woman who died in an accident in Montgomery County.
