Teachers in Danville are fed up.
And last night they let the school board know what exactly they're angry about.

More than a hundred teachers turned out for the monthly school board meeting.
They're angry over reports that the board may extend the school day by as much as thirty minutes.
Teachers are also upset because they've been asked to cut back on heat, due to the high utility bills.

The cause of a seven- year- old girl's death remains a mystery, even after an autopsy.
Salem Police found Maya M- Scott unresponsive when they arrived at her home on Irish Circle Wednesday afternoon.
She later died.
Officials say Scott had no major illnesses.
But Police do not suspect foul play.
Scott was in kindergarten at South Salem Elementary.
School officials say they've been told that there is no health concern for students who may have come in contact with Scott.
South Salem Elementary is accepting donations for her family.

Investigators won't issue a final report before next week, but they believe a homeless man who lived near the building started a fire in a trash barrel to stay warm.

A facility in Botetourt county is helping to prepare people for high- tech careers.

The Greenfield Education and Training Center will offer classes in state- of -the- art computer labs and manufacturing training labs.
The center will also give start- up companies a place to begin business before moving into the industrial park.

By a four to one vote, the Pittsylvania County Board of Zoning Appeals approved the drag strip.
Residents will head to court today-- They'll seek an injunction to prevent any construction until a lawsuit against the county is resolved.
They are suing to overturn the board's decision.

In Bedford county, authorities are making it a bit safer to ride alongside tractor trailers.

The Bedford County sheriff's department yesterday unveiled its new motor carrier safety unit- and put it into action on Route 501 near Big Island.
A team of deputies has been specially trained to inspect tractor trailers and identify safety violations such as worn brakes or broken lights.
Sheriff Mike Brown says the unit will be deployed in areas where people have complained about unsafe trucks in recent years.
