The loss puts Ricky Stokes club two games behind Miami for the final sixth spot for the Big East Tournament.
Tech down by 22 in the second half goes to Joe Hamilton. Hamilton drives to the hoop and makes the tough shot over the defender.
But this is how it would go for the Hokies. Dwayne Wimbly shakes loose underneath. Makes the move to the hoop and gets the bucket and draws the foul.
The free throw is no good, but Leroy Hurd gets the rebound and downs the baseline jumper for the Hurricanes.

Bryant Matthews throws down three here. He had 12 points and eight rebounds before being ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct. The Hokies fall to Miami 86-61.
