((The White House says it started when Robert Pickett fired several shots near the South gate. Rob MacLean/Park Police: "The subject was brandishing the firearm. He was waiving it in the air. The weapon was pointed at the White House at one point." After a 10-minute standoff, when the Indiana man ignored their orders to drop his weapon, the secret service shot him in the knee. He was taken to George Washington University Hospital. A Navy sailor who was declared missing and presumed dead off the coast of Norfolk last week has turned up alive.
Kevin Corr apparently spent the past several days hiding in a store room aboard a naval cruiser.
His family had already arranged a memorial service.
Authorities say Corr sought out the ship's chaplain after he emerged from his hiding place last night. He was taken to sick bay. More than two thousand Navy and Coast Guard personnel searched for days for the missing man.
