Virginia Gas says building its proposed new pipeline along side an existing one would cost 10 and a half million dollars more than just building a new one.
Local residents have been waiting for justification -- because, they say, the environmental damages far outweigh the financial costs.
The State Corporation Commission got that 10-million dollar figure yesterday in support of a merger between Virginia Gas and New Jersey-based N-U-I.
If the merger DOES go through, the pipeline will most likely be built.
