((Looking at the world through rose colored glasses is not unusual. Studies show that we judge ourselves more positively than we deserve, think we have more control than we really do, and are unrealistically optimistic about the future.

So what do we think about our relationships?
SOT: Better than average. Definitely better than average.

TRACK 2: Well, that be may be true for this couple, but not for most of us, according to this recent study in a journal of the American Psychological Association. (Graphics) Individuals perceive their own relationships, according to the study, as both better than and not as bad as others relationships. The study also concluded that This perceived superiority reflects a good deal of illusion. SUPER: DR. STEVE BRODY/PSYCHOLOGIST STAND-UP: Basically, we see what we want to see. Is this bad? Not necessarily. A little illusion is good for the length of a long term relationship. It helps us make more sacrifices. It also prevents us from having an affair. TRACK 3: The stronger your commitment, according to the study, the more likely you are to see your relationship in a positive light. The reverse is also true. When a marriage goes down hill, partners perceive the relationship as worse than it really is to help justify ending it. So dont worry about those rose colored glasses. For when it comes to judging your relationship . . .

Virginia Tech junior center Nicole Jones underwent emergency appendectomy surgery yesterday afternoon after experiencing abdominal pain earlier in the day.
Jones is expected to be released from Montgomery Regional Hospital Wednesday and will be out indefinitely.
The Tech women's basketball team is in Morgantown, for tonight's game against West Virginia.
