The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors is denouncing a study about a proposed natural gas pipeline.
The board hired a local engineering company to find out how much co-location would cost.
But the finished product wasn't exactly what the county expected.

For the fourth time in three years, a Lynchburg police dog has been involved in an attack on a person. This time it was a police officer.

Keith, the dog in question was scheduled to be sent back to Pennsylvania today after its handler decided not be a part of the department's K-9 unit.
Another K-9 officer was exercising the dog when the attack occurred.

Ruggieri was bitten on the hands and forehead, and required several stitches to close his wounds.
A firearms instructor, who was there conducting a class for police recruits, shot and killed the dog immediately after the attack.
In three years, two citizens and another police officer have been bitten by Lynchburg police dogs.. it's something the department takes seriously.

Police say the irony here is that this attack occurred because they were trying to prevent other problems..

In an unusual accident, 61-year-old Reed Preston Cotton was pinned between his garbage truck and a telephone pole. Police supsect that while Cotton was picking up trash at a home on Cedarhurst Avenue, his vehicle started to move. When the victim tried to reach the brake, the truck hit a pole. A resident heard the noise and came outside to find Cotton trapped.

But today a Christiansburg woman pleaded guilty to the first degree murder of her husband.
Melissa Faye Miles will serve 28 years for shooting Terry Miles in the head while he slept last April.

At a preliminary hearing today, two of Martinez's friends testified he had planned the shootings two weeks earlier.

Those are the lawmakers who try to reach a compromise between two budgets -- one that they hope the Governor will then sign.
