Dale Earnhardt was killed in a last lap crash at the Daytona International Speedway yesterday. Today fans everywhere are trying to make some sense of what happened. State Police have confirmed that it was sheriff's deputies' gunfire that killed a man in Floyd County Saturday night.

Roger Lee Whitlock was shot twice in the chest.
It is UNclear whether a woman found dead at the scene was killed by Whitlock, or if she could have been struck by a sheriff's deputy's bullet.
Darlene Yoders was hit in the face, but the autopsy was inconclusive on the source of that round. The F-B-I lab will examine some bullet fragments to see if that can be determined.
