Dale Earnhardt was killed in a last lap crash at the Daytona International Speedway yesterday.
Today fans everywhere are trying to make some sense of what happened.

Despite the efforts of many rescue personnel to save Earnhardt both at the track and at nearby Halifax Medical Center, Dr. Steve Bohannon says Earnhardt likely died instantly after hitting the turn four wall.

The exact findings of the medical examiner list the cause of death as blunt force injury to the head.
Not surprisingly, NASCAR already has decided that the show must go on, and the circuit will pull into Rockingham as scheduled this weekend.

State Police have confirmed that it was sheriff's deputies' gunfire that killed a man in Floyd County Saturday night.

It is UNclear whether a woman found dead at the scene was killed by Whitlock, or if she could have been struck by a sheriff's deputy's bullet.
