A drug company says it has begun a small scale human trial of a new experimental H-I-V vaccine.
Merck Pharmacueticals is not releasing the details on the vaccine, but it says it is cautiously optimistic.
The Wall Street Journal says the vaccine prevented lab monkeys from contracting H-I-V even after they were exposed to a extremely tough strain of the virus. Several other drug companies are working on their own versions of an AIDS vaccine.
