Poor road conditions on southbound 220 slowed traffic for several hours today.
Slippery spots backed up the Roy Webber Expressway from Elm Avenue to Tanglewood Mall.
V-DOT says the snow hit at morning rush hour, the worst possible time.
Traffic apparently packed snow tightly onto the roads, so it became difficult to remove.
Bridges throughout the city were icy and covered with snow as well.
