Mr. President Im giving a speech tonight on the budget. The speech will be Mr. Bushs most important message since taking office - the biggest sell of his life. President Bush: I want .... to make sure we take care of priorities.
Highlights of the budget plan include: 4-point-6 billion dollars for education. Another 2 trillion dollars over 10 years will go to reduce the national debt. And with a 5-point-6 trillion dollar projected surplus - Mr. Bush will officially announce his controversial tax cut plan; 1-point-6 trillion dollars over a decade. Allan Lichtman - Presidential Expert He is absolutely going to have to sell his tax plan. He needs Democratic support in both Houses of Congress. Hes even got some shaky moderate Republicans. So far, Democrats arent doing anything to help the President's plan gain more support.
Senator Joe Lieberman - D Connecticut The American economy seems to have a slight head cold right now; if we take the medicine President Bush is offering, Im afraid we are going to have a bad case of pneumonia. Gretchen Carlson/Reporting: Bush also plans to fulfill another campaign promise tonight; making Social Security a priority.
