A budget battle is brewing in Bedford County. Giving Bedford County teachers a big pay raise could mean a big hole in the county's budget for the next fiscal year.

[SUPER=03-Bedford]

At a budget work session last night, supervisors were told the school budget would be 18-million dollars MORE than it was last year.. most of that going toward teacher raises.
That would leave the COUNTY with a nine million dollar deficit.. sparking rumors of a 28- cent hike in the real estate tax rate.
But supervisors say that's not likely to happen.
