A 13-year old Botetourt County student has been charged with making threats at Read Mountain Middle School.
The sheriff says the boy talked about taking a gun to school in a gym bag, loading it in the bathroom, and then shooting people.
The boy allegedly discussed his plans with a 14-year-old friend, who offered to bring a gun to school for him.
A school resource officer found out- and talked to both boys and their parents.
No guns were found and no one was hurt.

CRUNCHING HIS NUMBERS, (GRAPHIC): A FAMILY OF FOUR WITH A SINGLE INCOME OF 60-THOUSAND DOLLARS WOULD GET BACK 320 DOLLARS THE FIRST YEAR, AND 1,600 DOLLARS WHEN THE PLAN IS FULLY IN PLACE. A SINGLE PERSON WITH THE SAME INCOME WOULD GET 211 DOLLARS IN YEAR ONE, AND ULTIMATELY WOULD SEE AN ANNUAL RETURN OF 750 DOLLARS. BUT DEMOCRATS QUESTION THE RUSH TO PASS A TAX CUT PLAN WHEN THERE'S NO BUDGET YET.... AND WONDER IF THERE WOULD BE ENOUGH MONEY FOR THOSE CUTS. Rep. Baron Hill/D-IN, Before you start spending money, sit down and figure out how much you have. PRESIDENT BUSH CONTINUES TO PITCH HIS PLAN IN KEY DEMOCRATIC AREAS THIS WEEK. BUT HIS REAL BATTLE WILL BE IN THE SENATE, WHERE SEVERAL REPUBLICANS HAVE ALREADY SAID THEY'RE GOING TO VOTE AGAINST THE BILL. OKITA STAND-UP: SO TAXPAYERS SHOULDN'T EXPECT TO START DIPPING INTO THE KITTY FOR EXTRA CASH JUST YET. ((It may not be the most enjoyable thing to do, but if youre a woman over 40, getting a yearly mammogram could save your life.

What were looking at is essentially the same size as dust.

(LOCATOR: NEW YORK CITY)

Dr. David Dershaw, the Director of Breast Imaging at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, says those tiny specks of dust can only be picked up by a mammogram. And for this patient - like so many others - getting the simple X-ray was successful in finding the cancer before it was too late.

(SOT) Dr. D. David Dershaw - Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center

Its been studied in clinical trials with hundreds of thousands women and has been able to reduce risk of dying from breast cancer by one third to one half.

(STAND-UP) Gretchen Carlson Reporting

But mammograms arent perfect. They can miss suspicious spots - and on average are wrong about 1 out of 9 times.
So the National Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Medicine decided to test the mammogram machine against 17 other technologies; including the new digital mammogram that produces a computerized image. The results? The old fashioned machine is still the best in detecting cancer, even though more studies are needed.

(SOT) Dr. Joyce Lashof, Institute Of Medicine

Wed like to be able to have a technology that would detect all cancers early enough that we can get 100 percent cured.
Dr. Dershaw is in the process of installing 3 digital mammogram machines right now to do his own testing. But until he finds something better, he agrees with the study results - that the original mammogram machine is still the proven screening test for the prevention of breast cancer.
