A Bedford County middle school student has been arrested for allegedly threatening to bring a gun to school to shoot a female classmate.
The 12 year old boy who allegedly made the threat over the telephone later told police and school officials that it was all a joke. However, the girl told authorities he had made the same threat before. The boy is charged with a misdemeanor and has been suspended from school.

Authorities in Pennsylvania say yesterday's school shooting was the result of a grudge between two girls, and was NOT a random act of violence.

A 14-year-old eighth grader is in custody after she allegedly shot another girl in the crowded cafeteria at Bishop Neumann Junior- Senior High School.
She's charged as a juvenile with attempted homicide.
Witnesses say the girl shot first at the ceiling, then at the floor, and a bullet ricocheted into the victim's shoulder.
Police say a male freshman was able to persuade the girl to drop the gun.
Meanwhile, classes at the school will resume tomorrow.

Clifton Forge held its first council meeting last tonight since voters said yes to reverting from a city to a town. But the town status issue came up only briefly with the mayor encouraging everyone to move forward.

Interim City manager John Rowe says the first order of business will be financial matters. He says the city will have to close out existing bank accounts, open new ones and order new checks under the town of Clifton Forge. A Lynchburg murder suspect is still in the hospital after trying to take his own life.

Police responded to the Deerwood Apartment complex Tuesday night, where Gracie Yvette Dillard had been shot in the head.
Her boyfriend, 29-year old Gregory Curtis Jones, has been charged with shooting her in a domestic dispute.
Jones is now at the U-V-A Medical Center, recovering from self-inflicted wounds to his wrists.

Murder suspect Andy Williams showed no emotion as his public defender successfully argued for a two week continuance of his arraignment.
The attorneys defending Williams are trying to keep him from being tried as an adult.
Meanwhile, his former classmates returned to Santana High School yesterday.
Security was tight and counselors were on campus to help students cope with the tragedy.
Two students died in the shooting-- 13 others were injured.

Yesterday, it was announced NASA chose the company to be one of the vendors in a 20-million dollar contract to build the international space station and space transportation vehicles.
