It took only an hour and half for the jury to sentence Thomas to die.

Three railroad engines were coming down the track .. when a woman tried to drive across.
State police say Billie Jo Thornton of Troutville is hospitalized with head injuries, broken bones, cuts and bruises.
Officers tell us Thornton went across the Norfolk Southern tracks in Troutville this afternoon, right in front of the locomotives.

The owner of the hotels says the suspect pointed a gun at the clerk, and demanded money.
Several hundred dollars was reportedly taken.

James Patterson was convicted last year for offenses involving young boys... some of the cases dated back 20 years.
Patterson came in contact with the boys between 1981 and 1985 through internships at W-B-L-T radio and the local Boy Scouts group.
Patterson was sentenced to a total of 30 years, but he won't serve that time.

The on-line music swapping service will then have three business days to block the free exchange of the songs. The action is required by a federal court injunction issued earlier this week.
