Ball says by the time fire crews arrived the entire side of the building was in flames. Fire fighters evacuated three apartments. No one was hurt- all the pets got out too. It took fire crews about 30-minutes to knock down the flames. The Fire Chief says five apartments were destroyed and that the other five in the building most likely have smoke and water damage.

Charges are pending against a suspected drunk driver shot by a state trooper in Amherst County last night.

Authorities were trying to pull over 24-year old Edgar Jermaine Harvey in Madison Heights when he led them on a short but high-speed chase.
Harvey ditched his car near Seminole Drive and took off on foot, with two troopers in pursuit.
Trooper James Scott shot Harvey after Harvey allegedly made a threatening gesture towards the officer.
Scott has been placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
Harvey is in stable condition at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Apparently they can cause a choking hazard for small children.
The toys were distributed in January and February.

The Mir space station has become clearly visible over Japan as it orbits closer to earth.

The 15-year-old space station is to be brought down from orbit on March 20th. Now a observatory in Northern Japan says it spotted the space station and tracked its course for seven minutes today.
Experts at the observatory dismissed speculation that the station might fall out of orbit and hit Japan. Mir is supposed to make a controlled plunge into the Pacific between Australia and Chile.

Singers Amy Grant and Vince Gill are new parents today.
Grant gave birth to a baby girl this morning in Nashville.
This is her fourth child and her first with husband Vince Gill.
A spokeswoman says the baby weighs seven pounds nine ounces and is 19 and a half inches long. Her name has not been released.
