Optical Cable expects a 50 percent rise in sales for the first quarter of 2001.
At a shareholders meeting today, company president Bob Kopstein says he's working on expanding sales in China.
Kopstein says if all goes well, a deal to sell fiber optic cables to the Chinese will double the company's workforce.
There are already plans for a manufacturing plant in China in the works.

The drizzle and dark clouds didnt seem to affect music mogul Sean Puffy Combs' mood . As usual he appeared confident - arriving at this New York City courthouse - impecably dressed. As the trial against the rapper is wrapping up; one of his attorneys Johnny Cochran also looked confident.

(chuckling)

Combs is standing trial on gun possession charges and bribery...stemming from a nightclub shooting incident back in 1999.
During his more than 3 hour closing statement Monday, Combs' attorney, Benjamin Brafman attacked some of the witnesses accusing them of lying and trying to cash in on his clients profitable career.
At one point, Brafman went after Julius Jones..one of witnesses injured in the shooting. He slammed Jones for incurring 17 thousand in medical bills but suing Combs for 700 million.
Also facing Brafman's wrath..Wardell Fenderson..Coomb's driver on the night in question He told the 5 whites and 7 African Americans on the jury that Fenderson is a deadbeat dad who is trying to frame Combs.
Fenderson and Combs along with his then girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez fled the nighclub after an argument erupted and shots were fired. They lead police on a high speed chase and when finally stopped, police discovered one gun and retrieved another reportedly thrown out of the vehicle.

(Terisa Estacio)

But now it is the Prosecutors turn to convince the jury of the charges against Combs. The jury could begin deliberations as early as this afternoon.

But the increase is not as high as originally feared.

The board of supervisors last night voted to advertise a proposed real estate tax hike of eight cents.. that would bring the rate to 75 cents for every hundred dollars of assessed value.

That would generate more than two and a half million dollars in new revenue which would go directly to the school system.
