A month after an F-B-I agent was arrested for spying for the Kremlin, the U-S retaliated by expelling nearly 50 Russian diplomats accused of being intelligence officers.

This afternoon the Russian ambassador was summoned to the state department and told by Secretary of State Colin Powell the suspected spies had to leave the country.

Today's "expulsion order" does not set a deadline for the Russians to leave and some could remain here for a few more months.
It remains to be seen whether Moscow will now expell an equal number of American diplomats.
