Investigators also plan to interview F-A-A pilots who had banned night- time instrument landings at the Aspen airport.
It's unclear why the pilot attempted the landing, because he reportedly had been told about the ban.
But safety investigators say the control tower had NOT been informed.
18 people died in the crash of the privately- owned Gulfstream jet.

A weekend shooting incident lands a Yellow Cab driver in the hospital with injuries.
It happened around 5:30 yesterday morning outside an apartment complex in the Northwest section of Roanoke.
Authorities are still looking for the suspects.
The driver, 30 year old John Powers of Salem, is at Duke Medical Center where he underwent surgery.

The call for a taxi came in at five in the morning. Dispatchers asked John Powers to pick up two men at the Salem View Apartments on Panorama Avenue. The pair allegedly asked Powers to take them to West Side Boulevard. But, when they were behind the apartment building, officials say the two men demanded money, shot out the two way radio, and then shot Powers once in the back. The pair then fled the scene. Neighbors in the apartment building called police after they heard a horn blowing for several minutes.
Yellow cab drivers like Eddie Sutton say the night shift can be a dangerous time to work, you just have to be careful.

Finally, the Dow closed up nearly 80 points at 9878.78. And the NASDAQ finished up almost 20, to close at 1840 for the week.

Table after table of gourmet goodies lined the Roanoke Civic Center for the annual Chocolate Festival.
Restaurants from across the valley baked up their special chocolate recipes from cakes with rich chocolate frosting to creamy fudge as well as all kinds of other goodies for those with a sweet tooth.

For those who had their fill of eating sweets there were other activities like the cake walk .... a contest where if you land on the right number when the music stops you got to take home a free chocolate cake.
If you tried to get into the festival yesterday and were turned away, that's because it was sold out.
15-hundred people attended the event.
All of the proceeds will go to Center in the Square.

A yellow cab driver was shot on the job in Roanoke yesterday morning.
Authorities are still looking for the suspects.
It happened around 5:30 outside an apartment complex in the Northwest section of Roanoke.
The driver, 30 year old John Powers of Salem, is at Duke Medical Center where he underwent surgery.
There is no word on Powers' condition.

A local church is moving to a new site.
On Tuesday-- the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to sell a 38- acre plot of land to the Christian Life Fellowship Church near Glenvar.
The church purchased the property for 984- thousand dollars.

Funeral services were held yesterday for fourth district congressman Norman Sisisky.
The Democrat died Thursday, just days after undergoing lung cancer surgery.
Sisisky was one of four Democrats remaining in Virginia's eleven member House delegation in Washington.
