Pulaski police are investigating an apparent murder. Officers discovered the body of a man outside a residence at 840 Pepper Street around 8 last night. He had been shot in the chest. 42-year-old Lamont Defriece is charged with first degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Police say Defriece was taken into custody at the scene. Authorities are not yet releasing the identity of the victim.

Several people are taken to the hospital after a Botetourt County school bus collides with car.

The accident happened around 8:30 yesterday morning on Alternate Route 220.
The driver and students on the school bus saw it coming, as the car crested a hill, crossed the divided highway and hit the bus head-on.
Authorities say the driver of the car, a 16- year- old student at Lord Botetourt high School, may have had a blackout caused by a diabetic condition. He faces a charge of reckless driving.
None of the injuries are serious.

Crews from Hillsville, Galax and Cana contained the fire, but not before it damaged the Family Fish House next door.

Hildridge Wilson of Danville is one of those people.
At 92, she still works four times a week at the Glenwood Community Center.
She broke her hip and shoulder five years ago - but that hasn't slowed her down a bit.

The Rough and Rowdy Boxing Contest had the Salem Civic Center rumbling last night.
Dozens of men and women stepped into the ring to fight for five-thousand dollars in prizes.
