[SUPER=03-Blacksburg/Last Night;]
Some 40- people spoke at a public hearing on the issue last night.
The school board is considering eliminating the Blacksburg High school Indian name and mascot as part of a county wide policy.
Some board members are concerned the use promotes stereotypes and racism.
But others told the board the Indian symbol is source of pride for those who attend or have graduated from B-H-S.
