Earl Brown was one of many former and current Blacksburg High school students to voice their opinion.
The school board is considering eliminating the Indian name and mascot as part of a county wide policy.
But those who want to keep what they see as a source of pride reminded the board that a task force organized to study the issue voted to keep both the name and Indian symbol.
((JIM SHOCKLEY/INDIAN SUPPORTER: ...I'M JUST BEGGING YOU... TO HONOR THE WISHES OF THE BLACKSBURG COMMUNITY.))
But those who want the board to adopt the policy and say the task force was one sided... urged the board to eliminate what they see as demeaning.
