That brought lots of people out for last night's public hearing.
Under the proposal, the school system would get nearly two million dollars less than it wanted.
[SUPER=03-Botetourt Co./August]
The school board says that could mean cutting some music and phys-ed classes, eliminating activity busses and nurses and increasing class size.
Board members say that's the only way to continue teacher pay raises and pay off the new Greenfield elementary School.
Some laid the blame at the feet of county supervisors.

The school board must find funds to order new sports uniforms, refinish the gym floor and eliminate other Indian depictions in the building.
A cost for all this has yet to be addressed.
The school does have until July 2003 to comply with the new policy that prohibits the Indian.
Some believe a smooth transition will be helped by having the community involvement seen during the debate.
