A big victory for a major car dealer .. a major hit to Montgomery County's tax rolls.
The Supreme Court of Virginia has reversed a lower court... and ruled in favor of the Shelor Automotive Group in its long- running dispute with the county.
[Double Boxes=Keith & Rachel/Microwave]
NEWS 7's New River Valley Bureau Chief Rachael Cannon has details of the decision and some idea of what it means.
Keith, Shelor Automotive Group has essentially found a legal way to get around the county's merchants' tax.

Here's how they did it, they took their car inventory, which is the property that the tax in question is based on, out of Montgomery County.
So when the county's January first "tax day" on that inventory came, none of it was physically there.
The State Supreme Court says, according to code, it has to be to, in order to be taxed.
