Fire officials say a gas grill led to a house fire in Roanoke today.

Crews responded to the 47-hundred block of Northridge road. Fire officials say the family was grilling on the deck, went inside and then heard an explosion. Nobody was injured in the fire. Officials say the damage was minor, and confined mainly to the attic and an interior wall.

Fire destroyed an R-V and damaged nearby vehicles before fire fighters could put out the flames. Fire crews responded to the blaze about 12-thirty this afternoon in Vinton. Flames scalded nearby vehicles, and it took firefighters about 10 minutes to put out the blaze. No one was injured, officials say the fire started in the R-V's fuel line.

Hundreds of people gather in Roanoke today, ready to walk for a good cause.

They're taking part in a 5- mile walk organized by the Blue Ridge Multiple Sclerosis Chapter. The event raises money for research and awareness of the disease. Railroad retiree Joe Sailor says changes need to be made to his retirement fun. [PRE PRO]
A bill that's been introduced to Congress would allow railroad companies to invest money that it's employees have saved for retirement -- then hopefully, the investments would payoff.
The bill also says railroad companies will pay the difference if the investments DON'T payoff.
Plus, it would lower retirement age from 62 to 60 for employees with 30 years of service. [END PRE PRO]
Sailor was disappointed when the bill fizzled during the last session of Congress.
But with provisions for retiree spouses, Sailor says its sure to pass this time.

Jackson left Lexington in April of 1861 to join the Confederate Army, and never returned. The home eventually became a hospital. But restoration efforts in the late 1970's returned the dwelling to its Jackson era appearance.

Grant Noel has been the man all spring.
Noel led the White team to 10 points on 13 of 32 passing for 112 yards and one TD.
Jason Davis fumbled an early snap and had three interceptions, but he compiled 117 yards on an eight for 17 day passing.
Keith Burnell capped a great spring season with an impressive game. Burnell led the Maroon to a 24-10 victory with 183 yards rushing and a touchdown.
The QB question is still unanswered but Coach Frank Beamer says his staff will discuss it Monday.
