City Council members had narrowed their options to a single concept, and they were preparing to vote on the stadium project at their next meeting.
It appeared a majority was ready to approve a multi-purpose athletic field and amphitheater that would be built within the existing walls of Victory Stadium.
But this morning, a request for a two-week delay in the vote touched off a pointed discussion.

South Roanoke neighbors are going to have to pay-up if they want to keep fighting local developers.
(------------)

[SUPER=03-Roanoke/Last Month]

The court battle over the Cherry Hill Condominium project has been on-going for months -- mainly because some neighbors say the building is too tall.
Judge Clifford Wechstein hasn't ruled yet.
But today, he said once he makes a decision, NEIGHBORS may have to put up at least a million dollars.
That's because many of the condos have already been purchased, so developers could lose that million if the court battle continues.
The seven figure bond would be a sort of an insurance policy if developers win the case, but lose tenants.
